Published to a decentralized peer-to-peer network, they enable FAIR, machine-actionable knowledge sharing with built-in provenance and attribution, properties of direct relevance to library professionals working with metadata, scholarly communication, and research data management.</p> <p>This introductory hands-on workshop guides participants through the full nanopublication lifecycle: understanding the conceptual model; creating and publishing nanopublications via Nanodash; querying the network with SPARQL through Nanopub Query; building custom templates; and understanding the trust and community layer. No prior experience with nanopublications is required; familiarity with basic RDF concepts is helpful. Participants need only a laptop, internet connectivity, and an ORCID, no software installation needed.</p> <p>The workshop builds on a tutorial held at ESWC 2025 (<a href="https://nanopub.net/docs/tutorials/eswc2025">https://nanopub.net/docs/tutorials/eswc2025</a>) and incorporates recent ecosystem developments, including the second-generation Nanopub Registry and Nanopub Query. With over ten million nanopublications already published across life sciences, biodiversity, and scholarly communication, the technology is mature yet actively evolving. For the SWIB community specifically, nanopublications offer a practical path toward making library knowledge assets more interoperable, citable, and machine-actionable, aligned with ongoing efforts in open science, FAIR data, and Linked Open Data.
