Er is veel data uit experimenten en het veld. Maar de toegankelijkheid van deze data voor hergebruik is gelimiteerd. Hierdoor zijn deze niet herbruikbaar in nieuwe analyses en kunnen de data niet samengevoegd worden voor preciezere berekeningen. In het ergste geval worden experimenten of dataverzamelingen opnieuw gedaan.Doel Het SUMMERFAIR-project had twee hoofddoelen om de evaluatie van maatregelen te verbeteren:Het toegankelijk maken van data door een domein ontologie te ontwikkelen. Een ontologie is een standaard taal waarbij concepten in datasets worden gestandaardiseerd.Algoritmes ontwikkelen voor het samenvoegen van verschillende databronnen voor betere en nieuwe schattingen van de verspreiding van antibioticumresistentie.Resultaten De onderzoekers ontwikkelden een domein ontologie voor transmissie data. Ze bespraken de ontologie met internationale experts en pasten de ontologie aan naar aanleiding van een workshop.Voor veterinaire datasets zijn case studies uitgevoerd. Hierbij gebruikten de onderzoekers de in dit project ontwikkelde ontologie en algoritmen. Hiermee konden ze verschillende experimenten in verschillende diersoorten samenvoegen en analyseren.Voor het gebruik van ziekenhuisdata waren er obstakels. Het projectteam bezat niet voldoende juridische kennis om deze problemen op te lossen binnen het tijdsbestek van dit project. Daarom gebruikten ze gesimuleerde data om de ontologie aan te passen voor humane gegevens.Samenwerkingspartners Dit project was een samenwerking tussen diergeneeskunde, medische- en computerwetenschappen. Internationale instituten waren betrokken bij de ontwikkeling van eerdere versies.Vervolg Dit project heeft voor beide hoofddoelen een prototype ontworpen.
