Interoperability and data access are key, making the Semantic Web a valuable solution. The link between Semantic Web (SW) technologies and Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) goes back to before 2001, with the Plinius ontology from 1994 as a significant example. Recent conferences such as FEMS-Euromat and the MSE Congress show increasing interest in SW applications. Additionally, the EU has proposed a Materials Commons for better access to materials science data. This workshop aims to highlight the use of SW technologies in MSE and make them more accessible. We will provide an overview of existing approaches, connect stakeholders, and promote collaboration.
