    dct:description "De darmbacterie Enterococcus faecium is van nature aanwezig in de darmen van mens en dier. De bacterie heeft zich ontwikkeld tot een antibioticaresistente bacterie verantwoordelijk voor ziekenhuisinfecties. Tussen 2012 en 2020 zijn er in Nederlandse ziekenhuizen 87 uitbraken gerapporteerd met deze bacterie. Doel: Het doel van dit project was om ziekenhuisinfecties met resistente E. faecium beter te begrijpen en sneller te kunnen bestrijden. Hiervoor zijn bestaande genetische gegevens van de bacterie beter toegankelijk gemaakt voor onderzoekers en zorgprofessionals. Werkwijze: Onderzoekers van het UMC Utrecht hebben de genetische eigenschappen van de bacterie in kaart gebracht. Deze gegevens zijn verzameld tijdens ziekenhuisuitbraken. De informatie is verwerkt volgens de FAIR-principes, zodat deze makkelijk vindbaar, bruikbaar en deelbaar is. Resultaten: Onderzoekers hebben een online tool ontwikkeld om ziekenhuisuitbraken sneller en preciezer in kaart te brengen. Dit verbetert het begrip van de verspreiding van antibioticaresistentie en draagt bij aan effectievere bestrijdingsmaatregelen.";
